The electorate of Dawson spans the eastern coast of North Queensland, from the southern entrance of Mackay to the southern suburbs of Townsville.

Dawson encompasses four local government areas (LGAs): Mackay Regional Council, Whitsunday Regional Council, Burdekin Shire Council and Townsville City Council.

Within these four LGAs are huge economic opportunities, such as prawn and fish farming, sugar cane production, beef production, horticulture production, coal mining, and tourism. As Andrew says, Dawson is a powerhouse region.

There’s approximately 105,248 constituents living in the 14,630 square kilometre region.
