New Labor Tax Targets “Aussie Battlers”

Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox, is frustrated with Labor’s brand new attack on ten million low and middle-income earners in Australia.

The Dawson MP is shining a light on the Treasurer’s decision to cut the Coalition’s 2019 Low and Middle Income Tax Offset (LMITO) from the 2023 May Budget.

While designed as a one-off payment, the Coalition extended the LMITO through the pandemic to support struggling Australians.

Andrew Willcox is appalled at the Albanese Labor Government, who have “demonstrated how out of touch they are with everyday Australians by this decision”.

“People in Dawson aren’t any better off since they were in the pandemic, yet Labor think its time to put the pressure back on low and middle income earners”, Mr Willcox said.

“In the last ten months, everyday Australians have faced the biggest cost of living crisis in decades … grocery prices, power prices, and fuel prices are all through the roof, and Labor’s new tax is set to blow that roof right off.

“This is essentially a new tax on ‘Aussie Battlers’.

Andrew Willcox MP explained that Labor’s new “Battler Tax” will leave Dawson residents significantly worse off at the end of the next financial year.

“Now, many in Dawson will be up to $1,500 worse off at tax time next year.

“This tax is equivalent to two interest rate rises at the same time.

“Labor used to be for the worker, now they want to tax them to oblivion.

The Albanese Government’s “Battler Tax” has also been announced on the back of four other Labor “cash grabs”.

“Labor’s been in for around ten months, and they’ve managed to slap our truckies, our retirees, our resource industry, super accounts, and now the entire working class with blind taxes.

“If Labor are trying to crumble every industry, sector, and group that make this country run, they’re doing a great job of it.

Andrew Willcox MP believes the way to end this domino effect of economic crises is to cut red tape, and get Government “out of the pockets of Australians”.

“I’m ready to work with anyone to make life easier for the residents of Dawson, and I believe it needs to start with cutting bureacuracy, and getting Government out of everyone’s lives.

“Dawson residents know how to spend their money much better than the Albanese Government.

Andrew Willcox has stated that he will be “standing by the people of Dawson, and strongly opposing this tax”.
