THE BRUCE HIGHWAY HAS BEEN NEGLECTED

The Bruce Highway has been neglected under the current Federal Labor Government.

It’s dangerous and riddled with potholes and in my electorate of Dawson between Mackay and Townsville, it’s got the worst safety rating of the entire 1600km.

Every time we get a bit of rain, the Bruce Highway is cut in multiple locations like Goorganga Plains, Peter’s Flats, and Plantation Creek in the Burdekin .

This brings everything to a grinding halt and affects everyone,  from people trying to get to work to freight with fresh local produce.  And even worse, ambulances unable to make it to a patient or a hospital.

This is simply not good enough!

We need to see the $7.2 billion promised by the Albanese Government spent where it’s needed most.

I would like to see the Bruce Highway raised along with better drainage for a start, to keep our local economy moving. It needs major resurfacing, centre line separation, widening fog lines and more overtaking lanes to make the highway safer.

Under a Dutton Coalition government if elected we will reinstate the historic 80:20 funding arrangement that the Albanese government slashed.

Only yesterday our future Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the Nationals David Littleproud was in Mackay and stated he would like to see money spent fixing the Bruce Highway in North Queensland before anywhere else.

I will continue to fight for our community to get our fair share of Bruce Highway funding.
