THE COALITION LED THE WAY

With today’s announcement that the Coalition will match the $7.2 billion dollar Bruce Highway upgrade, this brings certainty for road users and contractors.

“I strongly believe Peter Dutton will be our next Prime Minister and I am pleased with his long-standing commitment on reinstating the 80:20 funding contribution, the matched funding for upgrades, and to remove the CFMEU from these works.  This just reinstates his commitment to Queenslanders and my constituents of Dawson that he wants better for Australia.” Andrew Willcox MP said.

Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox MP welcomes the commitment but says the fight isn’t over yet. “We have the money in the till, but now the hard work begins. I have some horrible patches along my stretch of the Bruce Highway, and I am concerned these are not on the priority list.”

“Just 3 weeks ago, days before Christmas the road was cut and I was dreading families wouldn’t be together for Christmas”, Andrew Willcox said.

“This needs to be done properly, it needs to be done with common sense, and we need local contractors on the job.”

“I can’t sit back and watch taxpayers’ money be squandered through study after study and go into the back pockets of the unions, while people die.”

I look forward to working with the Crisafulli State Government and the Bruce Highway Advisory Council on bringing Dawson’s patch of the Bruce Highway up to the standard my people deserve.
