CONCERNS OVER MISINFORMATION BILL
The Albanese Labor government’s misinformation bill is set to censor everyday Australians from having freedom of speech.
It will impose huge fines on digital platforms if the Albanese government ‘feels’ it doesn’t suit them. Queenslanders are concerned about the ramifications if this legislation gets pushed through the Parliament. The Bin the Bill petition has already received thousands of submissions online against this proposed legislation.
The Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland can personally order misinformation investigations on her terms, of her choosing.
The Coalition stands firmly opposed to Labor’s Misinformation Bill, believes in free speech, and will continue to fight to defend those rights.
Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox fears this bill will stop the younger generation from feeling confident to express their voices.
This bill poses a significant threat to democracy by giving excessive power to the Australian Communications and Media Authority to dictate what can and cannot be posted on digital platforms.
