WILLCOX BACKS SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL IN TOWNSVILLE
Having been an avid supporter of the sustainable fuel industries and working with the team at Jet Zero Australia, Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox MP welcomes the support from Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)
Andrew Willcox MP said, ‘the Coalition have worked with Jet Zero in supporting their submission into ARENA and we have been waiting with bated breath on the announcement.’
‘The $9 million dollars is a huge step forward and will go towards developing the Townsville production facility.’
‘This means jobs and means creating a new industry for regional areas.’
‘Dawson is home to the largest sugar cane growing region in Australia and it’s here that the agriculture sector and sustainable fuel sector can work and grow together for new and exciting opportunities.’
The facility will be capable of producing over 110 million litres of low carbon liquid fuels such Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
Jet Zero Australia CEO Ed Mason said the project is targeting to commence production by 2027.
“Delivering Project Ulysses will help capture the economic benefits of a domestic SAF industry for Australia which is expected to be worth $10 billion annually and create up to 26,200 jobs nationwide by 2030, with regional Australia positioned more than anywhere to benefit”, Mr. Mason said.
“The Project will also contribute to domestic energy security by bolstering domestic jet fuel production for civilian and potentially military aircraft in an important city like Townsville.”
