Dawson MP Attends Opening Of Whitsunday Foodbank Mackay’s New Location

Foodbank has been an iconic and trusted service in Australia for just over 30 years, offering low-cost groceries to our nation’s most vulnerable.

Sourcing more than 82 million meals last year, Foodbank has become an essential part of our communities.

Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox, attended the opening of the new location of Whitsunday Foodbank Mackay today, alongside the Member for Whitsunday Amanda Camm, Manager Christine Hayes, and Assistant Manager Vicky Butler.

The Dawson MP congratulated the team, and welcomed the organisation’s new location, which can be found at 352 Bridge Road, Mackay.

“Foodbanks provide such a vital service to our communities.” Mr. Willcox said.

“With the current cost of living crisis, Foodbank offers discounted groceries, which is a saviour to those in need.

“The volunteers at Foodbank do such an incredible job, and its great to know the residents in the Mackay region can access this incredible service at the new location.

“I want to thank Vicki, Christine, and volunteers Craig, George, Kristina, and Hannah & her carer Mel, who have been instrumental in building this fantastic initiative. The amount of time, effort & passion they have put into this is a testament to the amazing volunteers we have here in Dawson.

“I’m always impressed by the number of selfless men & women we have in our region, and this is another example of that.”
