Labor Leaves Australian Businesses Behind
Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox criticised the Labor Government’s rushed passing of the Industrial Relations Bill, which has been described as the biggest IR reforms since the GST.
Labor's extreme industrial laws will mean more red tape for small and medium businesses.
Mr Willcox said he is concerned the reforms will have the opposite effect of what the Government is promising and result in damaging small businesses in Dawson.
“The test for Mr Albanese and his Government is to deliver a substantial increase in real wages across the economy. The Coalition will be holding the Government to account on this,” Mr Willcox said.
“The laws are complex, and the community consultation from the Labor Government has been miniscule. Many businesses will have no idea how significant these changes may be for them and how multi-employer bargaining can affect the business.
“This Bill has been rushed through the parliament in the final days, hours and extended hours of the sitting year. The urgency of the bill was stressed by the Government and Australian workers now have the expectation that they will be getting a pay rise quickly.
“It is a radical shake up of our workplace system and will be judged by what it does to our economy.”
